AND WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN THIS AFTERNOON.
ONE OF THE PRINCIPALS COMMENTED THAT THEY'RE JUST GLAD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN DURING DISMISSAL TIME.
BUT ALL IN ALL, IT'S BEEN A REALLY GOOD BEGINNING TO THE SCHOOL YEAR.
AND SO WE WANTED TO BEGIN AT THIS BOARD MEETING THIS EVENING BY RECOGNIZING SOME OF OUR ATHLETIC TEAMS AND ATHLETES WHO HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SOME VERY SPECIAL AND NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE LAST SPRING.
AND WE'RE GOING TO BEGIN WITH OUR WESTLAKE BASEBALL TEAM WHO REACHED THE 6A STATE SEMIFINALS.
CONGRATULATIONS. [APPLAUSE] IT WAS EXCITING TO WATCH THEM IN THE FINAL FOUR.
AND SO CONGRATULATIONS, MEN WHO ARE WITH US TONIGHT AND OF COURSE, COACHED BY JT BLAIR, COACH OF THE YEAR IN DISTRICT 26 6A ALSO NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR BY THE AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN AND BY THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION.

AND JACK BRADY, [APPLAUSE] ALL DISTRICT AND ALL STATE.
[00:05:04]

ADMINISTRATION THANK YOU GUYS TOO.
[APPLAUSE] WE'RE GOING TO HAVE YOU COME AROUND BEHIND US HERE.
CONSECUTIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR.
[APPLAUSE] THAT IS REMARKABLE.
IN JUST A MOMENT, WE'LL LET COACH NOKES INTRODUCE THEM TO US.
ALSO WANTED TO RECOGNIZE ADAM VILLANUEVA, THE 6A INDIVIDUAL STATE TITLE CHAMPION.
SO, COACH NOKES, CONGRATULATIONS.
[APPLAUSE] WE'LL LET YOU SAY SOMETHING IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO.
ABSOLUTELY. CAN YOU GUYS STAND UP? I'M REALLY PROUD OF THIS GROUP.
THEY HAD A LOT ON THEIR SHOULDERS TRYING TO WIN THE SIXTH IN A ROW EVERY YEAR.
IT BUILDS A LITTLE BIT AND THEY EMBRACED IT THIS LAST YEAR.
THEY EVEN CREATED A GROUP TEXT CALLED SIX PIECE CHAPS, WHERE WE TALK TO EACH OTHER.
WE'RE MISSING TWO GUYS I WANT TO MENTION WHO COULDN'T BE HERE, KEVIN MOO, WHO'S IN THE PICTURE THERE? THIRD FROM THE FOURTH FROM THE LEFT.
HE IS AT EMORY UNIVERSITY PLAYING GOLF FOR THEM NOW.
AND HE HAS STARTED SCHOOL IN ATLANTA.
BUT THE START OF SCHOOL HAD HIM TO WHERE HE COULDN'T MAKE IT.
BUT I WANTED TO MENTION THEM HERE.
WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE ADAM VILLANUEVA.
COME ON, ADAM. [APPLAUSE] ADAM WAS ALL DISTRICT, ALL REGION, ALL STATE AND THE INDIVIDUAL REGIONAL CHAMPION AND STATE CHAMPION.
GRANT HAS BEEN A PART OF TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
NOW, AS HE PLAYED FOR US THE YEAR BEFORE AND LAST YEAR.
AND NOW HE IS GOING TO BE A SENIOR THIS YEAR.
HE WAS ONE OF OUR CAPTAINS LAST YEAR HE WAS ALL DISTRICT AND ALL REGION.
[APPLAUSE] NEXT PLAYER IS EVAN WONG.
WAS A SOPHOMORE LAST YEAR AND WAS ON THE SECOND TEAM, BUT CAME ON REALLY STRONG IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR AND ENDED UP TRAVELING WITH US TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT AS OUR ALTERNATE PLAYER. AND HE DID A GREAT JOB.
HE WAS FIRST TEAM, ALL DISTRICT ALMOST WON THE DISTRICT GOLF TOURNAMENT.
[APPLAUSE] FINALLY, WE HAVE BLAKE BERT.
[APPLAUSE] BLAKE WAS A JUNIOR LAST YEAR, SO WE'RE FORTUNATE TO HAVE HIM BACK AGAIN.
AND HE WILL PROBABLY BE ONE OF THE CAPTAINS THIS YEAR.
[00:10:03]
HE'S A VERY GOOD VOCAL LEADER AND WAS ALL DISTRICT AND ALL REGION LAST YEAR.AND I ALSO WANT TO THANK COACH GRIGG.
[APPLAUSE] COACH, CAN YOU STAND UP? HE'S BEEN MY FAITHFUL AND OUTSTANDING ASSISTANT COACH FOR 15 YEARS AND HAS BEEN AT EANES ISD ONE YEAR LESS THAN I HAVE 25 YEARS.
AND FINALLY, MICHAEL ROME, OUR OTHER ASSISTANT COACH.
WELL, HE'S OUR HEAD COACH NOW.
AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HIM HERE RUNNING THE PROGRAM THE WAY THAT WE WANT IT RUN.
AND I KNOW HE'S GOING TO DO A FABULOUS JOB AND KEEP THIS THING GOING.
[LAUGHTER] ANYWAY, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY FOR ALL THE SUPPORT.
THANK YOU TO THE SCHOOL BOARD, OUR ADMINISTRATION.
WE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT AND COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU.
WE'LL HAVE YOU JOIN US BEHIND, IF YOU DON'T MIND, FOR A QUICK PHOTOGRAPH.
WE WERE ALL PRIVILEGED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO TO WELCOME THE PRESIDENT OF THE TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE, IN WHICH OUR CHAP BAND WILL BE PARTICIPATING COME JANUARY.
SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT, VERY PROUD OF OUR BAND AND THE PARENTS WHO SUPPORT THEM.
AND SO, COURTNEY, I WANT TO GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO SPEAK TO THE BOARD THIS EVENING.
I COME WITH OUR PAST PRESIDENT, JEFF SIMPLER AND WITH OUR PRESIDENT ELECT, CAROLINE GRAHAM.
OVER 60 BANDS ACROSS THE WORLD APPLY.
ONLY 15 HIGH SCHOOL BANDS ARE ALLOWED TO PERFORM.
THE OTHER REMAINING FIVE, A TOTAL OF 20 BANDS PERFORM ARE FROM AROUND THE WORLD JAPAN, COSTA RICA.
THIS YEAR, A PIPE BAND FROM SCOTLAND.
I'D HATE TO BE BEHIND THAT BAND PERSONALLY.
ANOTHER BAND FROM ENGLAND, I BELIEVE, AND HAWAII.
AND OUR PRAYERS ARE OUT TO THAT FAMILY FOR THAT, THAT BAND FOR SURE.
BUT HAVING THEM COME KIND OF PUT A LITTLE EXTRA ENERGY UNDER US.
WE'RE SO EXCITED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
WE WERE THERE IN 2003, 2017 AND NOW 2023.
AND THE THEME THIS YEAR IS CELEBRATING A WORLD OF MUSIC.
AND WE'RE GOING TO PRESENT EVERY BOARD MEMBER.
AND ALSO WE BELIEVE WE MAY HAVE A FEW TO BRING BACK.
OR MR. ARGAJANIAN DON'T ROLL THEM UP BECAUSE EVIDENTLY THE PRINT, IT WON'T UNROLL CORRECTLY.
AND WE ALSO HAVE PINS FOR YOU AS WELL.
BUT JUST AS OUR TOKEN OF OUR UNDYING APPRECIATION OF EVERYTHING THAT YOU ALL DO FOR US DAY IN AND DAY OUT, PRESERVING OUR KIDS EDUCATIONS.
AS SOMEBODY WHO GRADUATED IN 1990, SEEING MY CHILD NOW BEING IN THE BAND UNDER THE SAME GENTLEMAN, MR. TAYLOR REALLY MEANS A WHOLE LOT TO ME.
AND THAT KNOWING THAT THERE ARE KIDS AND OUR STUDENTS ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH YOU ALL.
[00:15:28]
[APPLAUSE] .BRING SOME EXTRA. A TRIVIAL FACT.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE ROSE BOWL ASSOCIATION WAS HERE THE NIGHT IN 2002 WHEN THE STADIUM WAS DEDICATED AND EBBIE NEPTUNE FIELD WAS NAMED EBBIE NEPTUNE FIELD.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
AND THAT CONCLUDES MY REPORT FOR THIS EVENING.
[9.1 Financial report for Year Ending June 30, 2023 and One Month Ending July 31, 2023 ]
SO WE WILL HAVE OUR FINANCIAL REPORT FROM MARIA.SO YOU HAVE A FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30TH.
YOU CAN SEE THAT WE ACTUALLY ENDED THE YEAR A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN WHAT WE EXPECTED.
SO IT'S A BUDGET SURPLUS OF THREE AND ONE HALF MILLION.
THE MAIN THINGS THAT AFFECTED THAT WAS THAT OUR OUR RECAPTURE IS STILL NEEDING TO BE UPDATED WITH TEA, SO NEEDS TO UPDATE THOSE FINAL NUMBERS. AND SO WE BELIEVE OUR NUMBERS THAT WE HAVE IN OUR SYSTEM RIGHT NOW ARE ACTUALLY REFLECTING WHAT THEY SHOULD BE.
SO THERE WAS THE ESSER FUNDING THAT HAD BEEN ALLOCATED TO US.
THERE'S A PORTION OF IT THAT IS RESERVED FOR LEARNING LOSS.
THEY WERE ALL COVERED, USED TO COVER PAYROLL.
SO THAT'S WHERE THE BIG DIFFERENCES ARE IN TERMS OF WHERE WE'RE SEEING THAT BIG CHANGE.
SO WE SHOULDN'T EXPECT THAT KIND OF.
CORRECT? YES, THAT WAS THAT'S A ONE TIME ADJUSTMENT THAT THAT WE'D SEE.
OF COURSE, WE'RE STILL NOT THESE ARE STILL NOT FINAL NUMBERS.
AND SO THERE'S GOING TO BE OTHER ENTRIES THAT ARE GOING TO BE POSTED.
BUT I EXPECT THAT EVERYTHING THAT WAS SIGNIFICANT HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN HERE.
AND THEN FOR THE MONTH ENDING JULY.
NO NET EFFECT, NET EFFECT ON THE FUND BALANCE.
[00:20:04]
DIFFERENT NEXT MONTH BECAUSE WE DID SUBMIT OUR RECAPTURE PAYMENT THIS MONTH AND THAT WAS 121.7 MILLION.YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? ELLEN.
DO YOU WANT TO TURN ON YOUR MICROPHONE.
THANK YOU. OF THESE $6.7 MILLION REMAINING IN THE BOND EXPENDITURES AND ENCUMBRANCES.
HOW MUCH OF THAT IS ENCUMBERED? IN OTHER WORDS, DO WE THINK WE WILL HAVE SOME LEFTOVER FUNDS WHEN ALL OF THE PROJECTS ARE COMPLETE? OR HOW MUCH OF THAT MONEY IS ENCUMBERED AT THIS POINT? OR DO YOU EXPECT. I'M SORRY.
DO YOU EXPECT TO? SO WE WILL HAVE SOME REMAINING FUNDS LEFT OVER.
WE HAVEN'T DETERMINED THE EXACT AMOUNT UNTIL THESE THESE PROJECTS OVER THE SUMMER ARE CLOSED OUT.
AND THEN WE CAN REVIEW THAT WITH THE BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.
BUT WE DO PROJECT THAT SO WE'LL KNOW THAT IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS AS TO WHERE WE ARE [INAUDIBLE] VIA THE 2019.
THANK YOU ELLEN. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? I HAVE A COUPLE. I ALWAYS HAVE A COUPLE.
YOU WERE SAYING? ARE WE YOUR MODEL YOU BELIEVE MORE ACCURATE THAN STATE AT THIS POINT, I SUPPOSE.
FAIR ENOUGH. [LAUGHTER] SO THE $3.5 MILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS.
OR IS THAT WHAT THE STATE IS PROJECTING? THAT'S WHAT WE BELIEVE? OKAY, PERFECT.
I APPRECIATE ALL THAT Y'ALL DO TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THIS.
I APPRECIATE THAT. YOU ALSO MENTIONED, MARIA, THE UNDER AUDIT.
YES. THAT WOULD BE A RED FLAG FOR SOME PEOPLE TO IMPLY THAT WE'RE UNDER AUDIT.
THIS IS AN ANNUAL. THIS IS THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENT AUDIT.
YEAH. SO IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
WE DO AN ANNUAL AUDIT AND THAT'S WHEN YOU SAY UNDER AUDIT.
SO THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING IT.
NO, THANK YOU TO THE STATE FOR TAKING IT.
MARIA. I THINK THAT'S IT. THANK YOU.
[9.2 Long-Range Planning & Committee Vacancies]
ALL RIGHT. OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS OUR LONG RANGE PLANNING AND COMMITTEE VACANCIES.AND WE'LL SEE JEREMY AND CLAUDIA COMING FORWARD FOR THAT.
CLOSER TO YOU. CLOSING THE CIRCLE OR CLOSING THE HORSESHOE RIGHT NOW.
SO WE ARE HERE TONIGHT TO GIVE AN UPDATE ON THE EFFORTS SURROUNDING LONG RANGE FACILITY PLANNING AND THE ASSOCIATED TIMELINES THAT ARE TIED TO THAT AND THE OVERALL PROCESS.
BUT FIRST, I WANT TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO OUR COMMEMORATIVE POSTER THAT WE PROVIDED AS WELL.
THERE'S A LOT OF INFORMATION ON HERE, BUT THIS IS A TIMELINE THAT WAS DEVELOPED A FEW YEARS AGO.
THIS IS A MULTI YEAR PLANNING AND BUDGETING TIMELINE.
IT SURROUNDS A LOT OF THOSE CYCLICAL TYPE OF PROCESSES AND PLANNING PROCEDURES THAT WE THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE, INCLUDING BUDGETING, STAFFING, BOND PLANNING. THAT'S ALL ON HERE.
SO IT'S A VERY SIMILAR TYPE LONG RANGE OUTLOOK.
AND ALWAYS WE'RE LOOKING ACROSS ALL LONG RANGE FROM EVERY ASPECT OF THE DISTRICT.
TONIGHT WE'RE GOING TO KIND OF TALK ABOUT THAT FACILITY ASPECT, BUT WE WANT TO SHARE THIS.
THIS HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR QUITE A WHILE.
ARNETT, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANTED TO SHARE ANYTHING ON THIS OR NOT.
I THINK IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE USE TO SORT OF CHECK OURSELVES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ADHERING TO THESE TIMELINES NOT ONLY HORIZONTALLY ACROSS A FIVE YEAR PERIOD, BUT ALSO VERTICALLY, BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF INTERCHANGING VARIABLES AND INTERRELATED ASPECTS OF PLANNING THAT CROSS A LOT OF DIFFERENT AREAS.
AND IT GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ON TRACK.
OBVIOUSLY, THERE'S GOING TO BE SOME VARIATIONS TO THIS, AND I THINK AS JEREMY AND CLAUDIA WILL SHOW YOU ALONG THAT BOTTOM LANE WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REALLY EXTENSIVE OR TRANSFORMATIONAL PLANNING PROCESS LIKE THE ONE THAT WE'RE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON, WE'LL PROBABLY BE ADJUSTING SOME OF THOSE BLOCKS A LITTLE BIT.
BUT THAT'S WHERE WE ARE TODAY.
THANK YOU. SO SPECIFIC TO THE LONG RANGE FACILITY PLANNING.
YOU'LL SEE HERE THAT THE TIMELINE, THE TIMELINE IS BROKEN DOWN INTO SIX PHASES INITIATED WITH PHASE ONE, WHICH IS THE ADMINISTRATIVE VISIONING PROCESS.
SO THAT KIND OF KICKED OFF THIS LONG RANGE PLANNING PROCESS.
[00:25:08]
FACILITATOR AND OUR ARCHITECT AND GOING BACK TO SOME OF OUR FOUNDATIONS, OUR GUIDING DOCUMENTS THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE, OUR MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS, OUR GRADUATE PROFILE, ALL OF THOSE DOCUMENTS AND LOOKING AND IDENTIFYING THE BELIEFS AROUND HOW LEARNING AND TEACHING SHOULD HAPPEN IN OUR CLASSROOMS. AND THEN FROM THERE, WE DEFINE THOSE COMMITMENTS ON HOW THAT WOULD BE INFLUENCED WITH OUR ACTIONS WHEN WE GO INTO THIS LONG RANGE PLANNING.AND SO THIS IS AN EXERCISE THAT THIS VISIONING TEAM CONDUCTED OVER THE SUMMER MONTHS.
WHY? BECAUSE THIS INFORMATION THAT WE GATHERED WILL BE ABLE TO GO DIRECTLY INTO PHASE TWO, WHICH IS EARLY FALL, KIND OF WE'RE GOING FROM WE'RE GOING TO EVENTUALLY MOVE OUT OF THIS SUMMER AND GET INTO AN EARLY FALL.
THIS IS A DOCUMENT, A LIVING DOCUMENT THAT ESTABLISHES SOME CRITERIA THAT WE PROVIDE THOSE INTERESTED PARTIES, YOUR CONSULTANTS, YOUR ARCHITECTS AND YOUR PLANNERS.
WHEN WE GO TO DEVELOPING THE FUTURE OF EANES ISD IN OUR FACILITIES, WE UTILIZE THOSE SPECIFICATIONS.
IT GETS VERY DETAILED DEPENDING ON WHAT GRADE LEVEL AND WHAT TYPE OF FACILITY.
BUT THOSE WILL BE DEVELOPED FROM THE FRAMEWORK THAT WE GENERATED OUT OF THIS VISIONING PROCESS.
ALSO, CAMPUS CONDITIONS REPORT, WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHERE OUR BUILDINGS ARE, JUST THE CONDITIONS OF THOSE BUILDINGS AND NOT JUST SAYING HOW OLD THE BRICK IS, BUT HOW WILL THOSE BUILDINGS SUPPORT SOME OF THE THINGS, THE DATA THAT CAME OUT OF THAT VISIONING PROCESS.
SO THIS WILL BE THE FOUNDATION THAT WE WILL TAKE TO OUR CAMPUSES AND THOSE CAMPUS COMMITTEES.
FROM THERE, IT'S A GOOD STARTING POINT.
AN EXAMPLE THAT WE'VE USED IS SAY COLLABORATION IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
IF WE BELIEVE THAT COLLABORATION IS IMPORTANT IN THE CLASSROOM IN ANY OF OUR CAMPUSES, THEN WE NEED TO GO TO THOSE CAMPUS COMMITTEES AND ASK THEM HOW COLLABORATION IS GOING ON THEIR CAMPUS. IS IT GOING WELL? ARE THERE OBSTACLES THAT PREVENT YOU FROM HAVING COLLABORATION? AND WE IDENTIFY THOSE AND THEN THAT CAN HELP US ALONG THE WAY, BECAUSE ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES ARE DIFFERENT.
THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE DIFFERENT SUCCESS STORIES.
THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE DIFFERENT OBSTACLES.
BUT THIS FRAMEWORK WILL HELP US ASK THOSE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ABLE TO ALIGN ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES FROM A VISION PERSPECTIVE. SO THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON NOW.
AND THEN THIS FALL, WE WILL BEGIN THOSE CAMPUS COMMITTEE CONVERSATIONS.
AND AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL, MAINLY THE HIGH SCHOOL IS KIND OF WHERE WE'LL START FIRST.
SO WE'LL WORK OUR WAY THROUGH PHASE THREE AND PHASE FOUR.
AND THEN PHASE FIVE IS KIND OF TOWARDS THE LATTER PART OF THIS WHOLE ENTIRE PROCESS.
AND SO IT WILL BE A PACKAGE IN THAT FINAL DOCUMENTATION THAT WE BRING BEFORE YOU AND THE COMMUNITY AND HAVE DIALOG AROUND WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE? WHAT DOES THIS TRANSFORMATIONAL VISION LOOK LIKE? AND PHASE SIX IS THAT FINAL PHASE THAT YOU DO HAVE SOME INFLUENCE ON HERE? BECAUSE EVENTUALLY WE MAY DECIDE AS A BOARD, AS A DISTRICT THAT THIS MAY LEAD TO A FUTURE BOND.
A LOT OF THIS WORK NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED.
SO THERE'S DEFINITELY SOME LEAD TIME AND THAT'S WHY WE WANTED TO PUT THAT OUT IN FRONT OF YOU.
ANY QUESTIONS ON KIND OF THE TIMELINE OF THESE PHASES?
[00:30:08]
YES, ELLEN. HAVE YOU FINISHED THE VISIONING AND DID YOU WERE YOU ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED WITH IT? THE REASON I ASK IS THAT HAVING BEEN AROUND THE DISTRICT FOR A WHILE, THE ACHILLES HEEL MOST OFTEN IN PLANNING PROCESSES IS THAT WE USE THE PROBLEMS THAT WE'VE EXPERIENCED WITH OUR FACILITIES IN THE PAST TO DEFINE THE FUTURE.AND SO WE TRY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AS OPPOSED TO RE-IMAGINING.
YEAH. AND THAT'S WHY I THINK THIS VISIONING IS SO CRITICAL BECAUSE IN OUR SPACES, IN WAYS THAT THAT DON'T JUST SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF THE PAST.
SO I'M ANXIOUS TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THE VISIONING PROCESS AND KIND OF WHAT THE OUTCOME WAS OF THAT AND ALSO HOW ALL OF THE CO AND EXTRACURRICULARS WERE INCLUDED IN THAT PROCESS. SO I WILL TELL YOU THAT I'LL START AT THE END AND WORK BACKWARDS ON YOUR QUESTION.
SO THOSE DEPARTMENT HEADS WERE INVOLVED IN THIS VISIONING PROCESS.
AND SO WE WANTED TO LOOK AT ALL ASPECTS OF VISIONING IN OUR FACILITIES, MAKE SURE THAT WE COVERED ALL THOSE DIFFERENT AREAS. I WILL TELL YOU THAT ONE PHRASE THAT KEPT COMING UP AND THIS WAS FROM OUR FACILITATOR AS WELL, WAS IT'S NOT ABOUT BEST PRACTICE, IT'S ABOUT NEXT PRACTICE.
SO WE'RE NOT TRYING TO MEET A QUOTA OR A STANDARD THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SET.
BUT THE NEXT PRACTICE WOULD BE WHAT IS BEST FOR EANES ISD.
BUT THAT'S TAKING AN ADDITIONAL STEP FURTHER.
AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET THERE? I MEAN, THERE'S A LOT OF WORK.
WE DID IT RATHER WITH A PRETTY QUICK CADENCE, RIGHT? BUT WE NEEDED TO DO THAT SO WE DIDN'T GET OFF TRACK.
AND SO I THINK THAT THE PROCESS WORKED IN THE END.
I THINK I'M PROUD OF THE PRODUCT THAT CAME OUT OF THAT AND THE CONVERSATIONS.
A LOT OF IT'S JUST ABOUT THE CONVERSATIONS IN BETWEEN.
BUT WE ALL STARTED THIS EVERY DISTRICT KIND OF DOES THIS AND HOW SIMILAR ARE THEY? AND WHEN THEY GO THROUGH THIS VISIONING, I THINK OURS IS SPECIFIC TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES THAT WE DO HAVE, BUT SOME OF THE VISION OF WHERE WE WANT TO BE BECAUSE WE DO WANT TO BE BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE AND SO MANY WAYS.
BECAUSE WHY? BECAUSE OUR KIDS DESERVE IT AND OUR TEACHERS DESERVE IT.
AND WE FOCUSED ON TEACHERS AND WE FOCUSED ON STUDENTS.
AND SO THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT CAME UP WE REALLY HAD TO FOCUS ON ON OUR STAFF AS WELL.
RIGHT? YOU KNOW, WE'RE DEALING WITH HEAT RIGHT NOW.
HOW DO BUILDINGS, HOW DOES THE ENVIRONMENT IMPACTING OUR BUILDINGS? AND SO WE CREATED CRITERIA AS WELL.
SO I'M PROUD OF THE PROCESS THAT EVERYONE PUT IN AND WE WILL SHARE THAT FINAL PRODUCT WITH YOU ON KIND OF WHERE WE ENDED UP IN THAT ENTIRE VISIONING PROCESS. SO IT'S DONE, BUT WHAT WE'RE DOING IS DEVELOPING THAT FINAL DOCUMENTATION FOR IT.
OKAY. SO TIED TO THE LONG RANGE FACILITY PLANNING, WE WANTED TO TOUCH ON DISTRICT COMMITTEES.
OBVIOUSLY THERE'S JUST A LOT OF EVOLVING DISTRICT COMMITTEE NEEDS IN THIS DISTRICT.
AND SO WHAT WE'VE DONE IS WE'VE DEVELOPED KIND OF A STREAMLINED VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM.
AND WHAT THIS FORM IS GOING TO DO IS GOING TO HELP US WITH ALL THE RANGE OF COMMITTEE NEEDS AND VACANCIES AND ALLOW US, THE BOARD AS WELL, TO IDENTIFY THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AND TRYING TO ENGAGE THEM IN THE RIGHT WAY FOR THE RIGHT COMMITTEE WITH THE RIGHT CRITERIA.
BUT WE WANTED TO ADD IT TO THE LIST.
[00:35:05]
SO THIS IS THE PORTAL THROUGH WHICH COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER WOULD APPLY.YES. THANK YOU, JAMES. YEAH, EXACTLY.
AND CAN I JUST ADD TO THAT? SO BEFORE WE HAD AND ON OUR WEBSITE, WE HAD A PLACE WHERE THESE ALL THE COMMITTEES LIVED AND WE HAD A FORM THAT YOU COULD FILL OUT. WE CALLED IT THE INTEREST IN SERVING FORM.
AND THAT WAS REALLY FOR ANYTHING.
IF YOU WANTED TO VOLUNTEER AT EANES ELEMENTARY, YOU COULD GO ON THERE.
IF YOU WANTED TO HAVE A SPONSORSHIP WITH SOMEONE, YOU COULD DO THAT.
BUT BUT IT WAS ALSO FOR COLLECTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND IT WAS FOR ANY AND EVERYTHING.
WELL, SO WHAT THIS DOES IS THIS COMBINES THAT FORM.
BUT THEN, AS YOU KNOW, WE ALSO HAD THE BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE PROCESS.
AND IT COMBINED ALL OF THOSE IT COMBINES IT INTO ONE FORM WITH THOSE KIND OF BRANCHING SEGMENTS SO THAT YOU IF YOU ARE FILLING IT OUT FOR, SAY, SHAC, SHAC DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE DEMOGRAPHICS.
THEY, YOU KNOW, THEY WANT TO KNOW WHAT AREA YOU REPRESENT AND YOUR HISTORY, YOUR EXPERIENCE ON BOARDS, YOUR EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOLS, THINGS LIKE THAT.
SO THIS DOES GET US INTO ONE FORM STREAMLINES AND THEN IT CAN GO TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE.
TO BE ABLE TO THEN START THAT PROCESS FOR REACHING OUT TO FOLLOW UP FOR THE OTHER COMMITTEES.
THANK YOU FOR THE CLARIFICATION.
JEN, DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION? I AM PRETTY SURE CLAUDIA JUST ANSWERED MY QUESTION.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? YEAH. DIANE, YOU SORT OF ANSWERED THE QUESTION I'M GOING TO ASK, I THINK, BUT.
SO HOW MANY IS THIS THE WHOLE FORM.
HOW LONG IS THE FORM? HOW MANY QUESTIONS ARE ON THIS FORM? AND ONE OF MY HAVING SERVED ON THE SHAC, ONE OF THE OBSERVATIONS I HAD WAS THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO REALLY WERE THERE FOR THE RIGHT REASONS BUT DIDN'T HAVE MAYBE THE TIME TO PUT INTO IT.
IS THAT A PART OF THE INITIAL FORM OR IS THAT SOMETHING THAT COMES LATER IN THE SELECTION PROCESS? I WOULD SAY BOTH.
WHAT DOES THAT COMMITMENT LOOK LIKE? AND SO WE'RE WORKING ON A WAY TO INCORPORATE THAT.
IT MAY NOT BE ON THIS FORM, BUT IT WOULD BE LINKED FROM THE FORM.
AND I DO THINK THAT WOULD BE PART OF THAT FOLLOW UP PROCESS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BOC.
HERE'S THE TIME COMMITMENT HERE.
HERE ARE EXPECTATIONS, THINGS LIKE THAT.
YES, THAT WOULD THAT WOULD BE IN THE FOLLOW UP AS WELL.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU, HEATHER.
AND WE HAVE SO MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT ARE WANTING TO SERVE.
AND SO I WOULD PREFER SOMEHOW TO THAT LIKE IF WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT AREN'T SHOWING UP THAT WE FILL THOSE SPOTS WITH OTHERS WHO WILL SHOW UP BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT WANT TO SERVE.
I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS FOR BOTH OF YOU AND I'LL JUST START WITH, FIRST, I THINK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA, SO THANK YOU ALL FOR CREATING THIS ON THE INTEREST FORM.
SO IS THIS A LIVING DOCUMENT, CLAUDIA? I MEAN, THERE'S WE'VE TALKED ABOUT PLENTY OF STRUCTURED COMMITTEES, BUT THEN OTHER SERVICE.
SO IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WILL STAY ON OUR WEBSITE AND PEOPLE CAN AS THEY SEE IT, PARTICIPATE IN IT? AND THEN ALSO, DO WE COMMUNICATE OUT OR HOW ARE WE COMMUNICATING OUT WHAT OUR NEEDS ARE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME? SO THE WAY WE HAVE DONE IT IS THAT GENERAL INTEREST IN SERVING.
AND SO THAT WOULD THEN FILTER TO A FEW OF US, I THINK.
AND WHAT I WOULD DO IS I WOULD SEND WHOEVER SIGNED UP FOR THAT PERIODICALLY.
IT WASN'T NECESSARILY EVERY SINGLE TIME SOMEONE SIGNED UP, BUT IN A PRETTY SHORT TURNAROUND.
HERE ARE THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.
HERE ARE ALL THE DIFFERENT WAYS THAT YOU CAN SERVE.
AND AGAIN, THAT WAS EVERYTHING.
[00:40:02]
SO IT WAS MENTIONING CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT, IT WAS MENTIONING SHAC CLUB, IT WAS MENTIONING THESE COMMITTEES AND THAT ALSO A WAY TO OFFER OKAY, YOU DON'T SEE WHAT YOU WANT.CONTACT CLAUDIA, AND WE CAN TRY AND FIGURE SOMETHING OUT.
SO YES, WE WILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF THAT IN THIS FORM.
BUT THIS FORM IS REALLY DIRECTED TO STREAMLINE, LOOKING FOR THE SPECIFIC DISTRICT COMMITTEES.
I DO WANT TO STILL HAVE THAT KIND OF OKAY, NO, I DON'T WANT TO BE ON A COMMITTEE.
WHERE DO I GO? I STILL WANT TO HAVE THAT SOMEWHERE IN HERE.
I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ON THIS FORM OR IF IT'S JUST ON THAT WEBSITE LIKE WE HAVE IT NOW.
WE NEED TO WORK THROUGH THAT BECAUSE THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT TO BE ON A COMMITTEE.
WE'LL SHOUT IT FROM THE HILLS.
THEY SEE THAT AND WE'LL MENTION IT AT PRESIDENTS COUNCIL, YOU KNOW, ALL THE DIFFERENT GROUPS THAT WE MEET WITH, WE CAN DEFINITELY PITCH IT THAT WAY. OKAY.
AND SO JUST TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT AND THEN I'VE GOT SOME QUESTIONS FOR JEREMY.
DID YOU WANT TO WERE YOU JUMPING IN ON ANY THING.
SO. WELL, WHAT I REMEMBER AND MAYBE WHAT I'D LIKE TO DIG INTO IS THAT WE'VE GOT TO FORM, A NEW BOC, RIGHT? SO THAT IS A DIFFERENT PROCESS FROM SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO SERVE IN SOME CAPACITY.
AND SO THEY THEY FIND THIS AS A VEHICLE.
IS THERE GOING TO BE A MORE STRUCTURED COMMUNICATION AROUND, YOU KNOW, DEFICITS IN ANY EXISTING COMMITTEE AND THE FORMATION OF A THE BOC THAT WE NEED TO FORM AND HOW THAT HOW THAT DIFFERS FROM JUST THIS FORM.
WELL WELL THAT'S WHAT THOSE THAT ARE LISTED THOSE ARE THE ONES WITH THE DEFICITS, RIGHT.
I MEAN THOSE ARE THE SOME MORE THAN OTHERS.
BUT YES. YEAH, BECAUSE THAT ISN'T ALL OF THE DISTRICT COMMITTEES.
THOSE ARE THE ONLY ONES WITH DEFICITS.
AND SO THE INITIALLY YES, WE WILL TARGET FILLING THOSE COMMITTEES.
OKAY. AND THEN, I MEAN, JUST FOR THE COMMUNITY TO KNOW, LIKE I MEAN, I JUST REMEMBER YEARS PAST, THERE WOULD BE SOME TYPE OF I WOULDN'T CALL IT A CAMPAIGN, BUT SOME TYPE OF COMMUNICATION PROGRAM.
THAT SAID, WE'RE NOW FORMING A BOC.
YES. YOU KNOW, EVERYONE THAT'S INTERESTED, GO AHEAD AND APPLY.
I THINK THOSE MIGHT BE TOGETHER.
NOW, I WILL SAY THE DEI CAMPAIGN IS ONLY A COUPLE AND IT'S PRETTY TARGETED TO SPECIFIC CAMPUSES.
SO THAT WILL LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND BE A LITTLE MORE TARGETED.
WE HAVEN'T FIRMED IT UP YET, BUT I SEE IT THAT WE WOULD USE THIS FIRST FOR BOC AND FOR LONG RANGE PLANNING BECAUSE THOSE ARE OUR URGENT NEEDS RIGHT NOW. RIGHT. OKAY.
BUT THERE'S THE OTHER COMMUNITY THAT'S OUT THERE.
RIGHT? AND THEN MY MORE GENERAL QUESTION, WHICH IS FOR BOTH OF YOU, BUT MAYBE TARGETED FIRST TO JEREMY IS WHEN YOU TALKED ABOUT THE PLANNING PROCESS AND WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN VISIONING, COULD YOU JUST GIVE US SOME GENERAL INFORMATION ON WHERE THAT EXPERTISE CAME FROM? AND THEN AT THAT PHASE AND IN PHASES TWO THROUGH, YOU KNOW, THE NEXT IMMEDIATE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, WHAT KIND OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT THAT YOU NEED OUTSIDE OF THE STRUCTURED LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE? IS THERE ARE THERE OTHER WAYS? SO WHEN WE I'D LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT THE EXPERTISE, BUT THEN IN COMMUNITY, ARE THERE OTHER WAYS FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO GET INVOLVED IN THIS EFFORT SINCE IT'S A LONG EFFORT? ABSOLUTELY.
AND SO WHEN IT CAME TO THE VISIONING TEAM, SO WE UTILIZING ADMINISTRATION HERE OVER THE OVER THE SUMMER AND ALL THE CONTENT EXPERTS THAT WE HAVE ACROSS THE DISTRICT AND IN ALL THE DEPARTMENTS THAT IT WOULD IMPACT, STARTING WITH THAT TEAM AND THEN WORKING WITH OUR FACILITATORS WHO HAVE BEEN IN K-12 FOR, YOU KNOW, 25, 30 YEARS AND ARCHITECT IS THE SAME.
I FEEL THAT WE HAD A GOOD AMOUNT OF EXPERTISE IN THE ROOM.
[00:45:10]
FROM THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE.WE WANT THE INVOLVEMENT FROM THE BAND, FROM ATHLETICS.
WE WANT ALL THOSE DIFFERENT AREAS TO HAVE PARTICIPATION ON THOSE COMMITTEES.
THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE CAN DO THIS CORRECTLY.
AND SO THAT WILL GIVE US THAT DIALOG WITH THEM THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.
I'LL TELL YOU, SOME OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS, EVEN IN THAT VISIONING PROCESS, THEY WILL CARRY ON.
THEY'LL BE KIND OF A CORE TEAM THAT WILL CARRY ON.
OTHERS WILL PLUG IN AS WE GO, AND THEN WE'LL HAVE THAT OVERARCHING KIND OF LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE, WHICH IS A DIRECT ACCESS FOR YOURSELVES AND REPORTING TO YOU.
BUT WE WILL HAVE SEPARATE COMMITTEES THAT WILL HAVE COMMUNITY, PARENTS, STUDENTS IN THEM.
AND JUST TO EXPAND ON THE GROUP, THE INITIAL VISIONING, I MEAN, JEREMY DID A GREAT JOB OF GETTING SPECIAL EDUCATION.
HE GOT ATHLETICS, FINE ARTS, HE GOT H.R.
ME, I MEAN, IT WAS A PRETTY WIDE SPREAD.
A PICTURE OF OUR DISTRICT AND JUST DIFFERENT AREAS.
AND SO I THINK HE DID A GOOD JOB OF GETTING THE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES.
AND WHAT WAS INTERESTING ABOUT THAT IS, YES, WE ARE GOING TO THE CAMPUSES NEXT, BUT A LOT OF THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE ROOM ARE FORMER TEACHERS AND FORMER PRINCIPALS.
AND SO YOU ALSO HAVE THAT PERSPECTIVE WITHIN THE ADMIN TEAM.
IF THEY DON'T HAVE OTHER WAYS TO HEAR ABOUT THAT, THEY CAN HEAR IT THROUGH YOUR REPORTS.
YOU MAY GET SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ME TALK ABOUT IT, BUT THAT'S OKAY.
BECAUSE AGAIN, THAT'S ONE WAY FOR A COMMUNITY TO UNDERSTAND WHERE WE ARE IN THE PROCESS.
HE HAS TO MAKE THAT LITTLE LINE MOVE FROM PHASE TO PHASE.
YOU HAVE TO SEE THAT. THANK YOU BOTH.
THANK YOU. I HAVE LAURA AND THEN JEN AND THEN DR.
ARNETT. BUT I WAS GOING TO JUMP IN REAL QUICK AND JUST SAY FOR THE BOARD MEMBERS, NOT ALL OF YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH THE PROCESS OF WHERE BOARD SELECTS A COMMITTEE AND FORMS A COMMITTEE. AND SO WE WILL HAVE SOME BOARD TRAINING ON HOW THAT WORKS, THE PROCESS THERE.
WE DO HAVE A VERY GOOD PROCESS FOR GETTING TO A COMMITTEE WHEN THE BOARD SELECTS A COMMITTEE.
THANK YOU. LOTS OF GREAT INFORMATION.
SO PHASE SIX IS SUPPOSED TO WRAP UP SPRING SUMMER OF 25.
SO IF WE WERE TO CONCLUDE THAT WE NEEDED SOME BOND MONEY TO ACCOMPLISH THESE PLANS, THE EARLIEST WE WOULD CALL FOR IT WOULD BE OR COULD CALL FOR IT BASED ON THIS TIMELINE IS NOVEMBER OR SPRING OF 25 OR 26.
IT WOULD BE AS EARLY AS NOVEMBER 25, WHICH IS A CALL IN SEPTEMBER.
ALL THAT LEGWORK ACTUALLY HAPPENS AND YOU'LL HAVE IT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU TO TRY TO MAKE DECISIONS.
OKAY, IF IT'S JUST BASED ON THAT.
OKAY. MY OTHER QUESTION HAS TO DO WITH THE DEMOGRAPHERS AND HOW OFTEN DO WE HAVE THAT DONE? WE'VE DONE IT AROUND EVERY THREE YEARS.
AND SO WITHIN THIS PHASE, WITHIN THESE SIX PHASES, WE'LL GET ANOTHER UPDATE IN THERE SOMEWHERE TO FOLD IN TO HELP YOU MAKE DECISIONS.
RIGHT? OKAY. DEMOGRAPHICS MAY NOT DRIVE ALL THESE DECISIONS, BUT IT'LL HELP PROBABLY DRIVE THE FINAL DECISION AS WE KIND OF MOLD EVERYTHING INTO PLACE. OKAY. OKAY, GREAT.
YEAH, I THINK THAT'S AN IMPORTANT BIT OF INFORMATION.
SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE GOING TO GET THAT IN THERE.
I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS. COMMENTS.
JAMES, THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THAT ABOUT THE BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE.
WE HAVE HAD A REALLY ROBUST PROCESS IN THE PAST AND I'D LIKE TO SEE US CONTINUE WITH THAT.
[00:50:03]
WE USUALLY MAKE DECISIONS ON HOW MANY OF THE PAST BOC WILL BE RETAINED VERSUS NEW.SO I DO HOPE THAT Y'ALL WILL DO THAT CONCURRENTLY SO THAT WE CAN MOVE THINGS ALONG APPROPRIATELY.
AND THEN MY OTHER QUESTION, THIS TIMELINE, JEREMY, REALLY IS FOCUSED ON FACILITIES, CORRECT? AND EARLY PHASE ON WHAT EDUCATIONAL NEEDS ARE GOING TO DRIVE THOSE FACILITIES.
WHAT I DIDN'T HEAR YOU MENTION WAS SPANISH IMMERSION.
AND WHILE THAT MAY NOT NECESSARILY IMPACT A FACILITY, IT COULD.
AND WHERE IS THAT GOING TO FALL IN THIS KNOWING THAT THERE IS A NEED TO ADDRESS THE EVOLUTION OF THAT PROGRAM? OKAY IF I GO? SO IT'S A PERFECT SETUP FOR THE THINGS THAT I WAS GOING TO ADD ON THE SEPTEMBER.
THOSE ARE TWO CONVERSATIONS THAT WE NEED TO HAVE PARALLEL TO LONG RANGE PLANNING BECAUSE THE TIMELINE FOR BOTH OF THOSE WILL PROBABLY BE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, PERHAPS EVEN ACCELERATED.
AND THAT'S THE CONVERSATION THAT WE WANT TO HAVE WITH THE BOARD AT THE FIRST MEETING IN SEPTEMBER.
SO THAT'S WHEN YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT THAT.
WE KNOW FROM PAST EXPERIENCE HOW CRITICAL THAT IS.
SO WE'LL BE DISCUSSING THAT WITH THE TRUSTEES DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.
WHILE THE APPLICATION IS LIVE WE EXPECT THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN ABOUT SEPTEMBER 1ST.
SO DURING THE TIME WHEN IT'S OUT THERE AND PEOPLE CAN APPLY, WE'LL BE HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH THE BOARD ABOUT THE COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE, THE CHARGE AND CHARTER FOR THE COMMITTEE.
SO ALL OF THAT WILL BE HAPPENING CONCURRENTLY.
WE DO ANTICIPATE AT SOME POINT EARLY IN THE FALL HAVING A DEDICATED WORKSHOP WITH THE BOARD WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THE VISIONING PROCESS AND THE RESULTS OF THAT ADMINISTRATIVE CONVERSATION AS A PRELUDE TO THE BROADER COMMUNITY CONVERSATION THAT WE WANT TO HAVE.
ALSO GIVE THE BOARD AN OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH THE FACILITATORS AS WELL AS THE ARCHITECTS, AND HEAR A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHAT THE PROCESS WILL LOOK LIKE FROM THEIR VANTAGE POINT.
SO YOU'LL BE HEARING ABOUT THAT.
THE QUESTION WAS ASKED ABOUT PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND BEYOND THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE AND THE CAMPUS COMMITTEES THAT YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT TONIGHT JUST THIS WEEK, WE FEEL LIKE WE'RE ZEROING IN ON A POSSIBLE ONLINE PLATFORM FOR THE COMMUNITY TO GIVE US THEIR FEEDBACK AND THEIR INPUT.
WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING BEYOND THE CONVENTIONAL SURVEY.
THANK YOU, DR. ARNETT I'M GOING TO GO TO DIANE AND THEN HEATHER.
AND IF THAT'S SOMETHING THAT IS CHOSEN TO DO, IT WOULD BE IN THIS CHARTER CHARGE DOCUMENT.
OKAY, DIANE, FIRST LET ME SAY I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT AN ONLINE PLATFORM AND HEARING MORE ABOUT THAT.
AND JUST REALLY QUICKLY, I DON'T THINK I DID HEAR YOU SAY AND I KNOW WE'RE GOING TO HEAR ABOUT THE VISIONING OUTPUT, BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE A PART OF THAT PROCESS AND HOW LONG DID THAT TAKE PLACE? AND WERE THEY ALL IN THE ROOM AT THE SAME TIME? CAN YOU JUST DESCRIBE THAT DYNAMIC? YEAH. HOW MANY WERE THERE? SO. I WOULD SAY BETWEEN 20 AND 25 PEOPLE.
A MINIMUM, 20 INDIVIDUALS, ADMINISTRATORS.
AND SO WE DID THAT OVER, I THINK, FIVE CONSECUTIVE WEEKS.
WE MET EVERY WEDNESDAY FOR FIVE WEEKS.
WE DEDICATED A FEW HOURS AND JUST FOCUSED ON THAT.
AND THAT ALONE, IT TOOK A HUGE TIME COMMITMENT.
VERY INTENSE. THE VERY BUSIEST TIME OF THE YEAR.
WE HAD THIS IS IMPORTANT AS WHAT I TOLD HIM.
BUT AGAIN, EVERYONE WAS COMMITTED TO IT.
[00:55:01]
AND SO AROUND 2025 PEOPLE FOR FIVE WEEK PROCESS.REALLY, IT WAS A VALUABLE EXERCISE AND IT GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW ALL OF THE GUIDING DOCUMENTS THAT WE HAVE IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, EVERYTHING FROM THE BOARD PRIORITIES TO THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN, THE WHEEL, THE BOTH THE STUDENT PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE GRADUATE PROFILE OR THE EDUCATOR PROFILE.
SO WE LOOKED AT ALL OF THOSE AND THE FACILITATORS DID A REALLY GOOD JOB OF WALKING THROUGH ALL OF THESE LIVING GUIDING DOCUMENTS IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND HELPING US SYNTHESIZE THOSE FOR KEY LANGUAGE AND VALUES THAT WE THINK WILL BE IMPORTANT.
TO BEGIN THE CONVERSATION WITH THE COMMUNITY.
JUST IT WAS A CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING, I THINK, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
ARE YOU? IS THAT. ARE YOU DONE DIANE? OKAY. HEATHER AND THEN ELLEN.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR THIS PRESENTATION.
AND I KNOW YOU KNOW, JAMES AND LAURA AND I GOT TO BE PART OF ENVISION EANES.
AND SO I THINK A LOT OF THAT WAS KIND OF YOU KNOW, THE BASIS OF THIS OR THE FOUNDATION A LITTLE BIT.
BUT I'M WONDERING ON THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WE THINKING? DO WE HAVE A NUMBER IN MIND? WELL, IT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE NUMBER THE NUMBER IS IMPORTANT, RIGHT.
IN ORDER TO STEER SOMETHING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
SO THESE COMMITTEES CAN CAN RANGE FROM 12 TO 30 TO 50.
BUT WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS IDENTIFY WHAT WOULD BE MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT FOR THIS DISTRICT.
AND SO THAT HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED THE OVERALL SCOPE OF THE SIZE OF THAT COMMITTEE JUST YET.
OKAY. DO WE FORESEE THAT THERE MIGHT BE ANY OVERLAP IN COMMITTEES? BECAUSE I DO FIND THAT HELPFUL.
YEAH, I THINK THAT WOULD BE IMPORTANT HERE.
WE HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS GOING ON THAT ARE ALL KIND OF WOVEN TOGETHER, ESPECIALLY WITH LONG RANGE PLANNING HAVE REPRESENTATION FROM SOME OF THESE OTHER COMMITTEES. SO I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE IMPORTANT AND WE CAN TRY TO FOLD SOME OF THAT INTO THE CHARTER POSSIBLY.
I HAVE TO ADMIT I'M A LITTLE BIT SURPRISED AND A LITTLE BIT NERVOUS ABOUT NOVEMBER 25TH.
THAT FEELS A LITTLE BIT RUSHED IF WE'RE GOING TO BE MAKING MEANINGFUL, BIG CHANGES TO ME.
SO I'M SURE YOU'LL HAVE MORE AND MAYBE I WON'T FEEL AS NERVOUS LATER.
SURE, THAT IS THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION.
BUT THERE MAY BE MORE TIME AS WE GO THROUGH THIS.
YEAH. AND YOU KNOW WHAT DIANE HAD MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS A BIG FAN OF THE ONLINE PLATFORM.
YEAH. I SUSPECT THERE ARE SOME REALLY GOOD IDEAS OUT THERE THAT WE NEED TO HARNESS.
ELLEN. WITH ALL OF THESE DISTRICT COMMITTEES, WE HAVE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SELECTION PROCESS.
WE WE CHOOSE IN ITS ENTIRETY THE DEI THAT WAS BY CAMPUS.
AND SO THERE WERE SOME NEGOTIATION AND SOME INPUT FROM PRINCIPALS AND THE SHAC.
WE REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY SELECTION RESPONSIBILITY THERE AT ALL.
HOW DO YOU YEAH, WE APPROVE IT, BUT IT'S ALL IT'S PUT IN FRONT OF US.
HOW DO YOU SEE THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR THIS PLAYING OUT? AND HOW DO YOU SEE THE BOARD BEING INVOLVED? I GUESS IS MY REAL QUESTION.
THE LONG RANGE PLANNING, MY PERSPECTIVE IS I PROBABLY HAVE A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE THAT I KNOW ARE PROBABLY GOING TO APPLY FOR THAT JUST BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN SOME OTHER COMMITTEES. AND I THINK THAT'S AN IMPORTANT TO IDENTIFY.
BUT IN MY HONEST OPINION, THE BOARD NEEDS TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT COMMITTEE BECAUSE THAT'S GOING TO BE A DIRECT KIND OF REPORT TO THE TO THE BOARD FROM SOME OF THESE OTHER EXERCISES.
SO IN MY OPINION, YOU DON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF INFLUENCE ON WHO WOULD BE ON THAT COMMITTEE BECAUSE WE DO HAVE THESE OTHER COMMITTEES INVOLVED AT THE SCHOOL LEVEL THAT MAY BE MORE SELECTED FROM THOSE PRINCIPALS, THOSE CAMPUS PRINCIPALS TO ASSIGN THOSE INDIVIDUALS.
[01:00:04]
I DO HAVE THIS.THIS ISN'T TRIVIA BECAUSE THIS OUR POSTER IS NOT TRIVIAL, BUT I KNOW DIANE HAD ASKED THE QUESTION ABOUT DOES EVERY DISTRICT HAVE ONE OF THESE AND IS THIS STANDARD AND PRO FORMA? JEFF ARNETT ACTUALLY DID THIS.
I THINK YOU PROBABLY EVEN DESIGNED IT ON YOUR COMPUTER.
HE'S BEING SHY. REALLY IMPRESSIVE.
AND WE'VE BEEN IMPRESSED FOR YEARS BY THIS.
BUT IT WAS. JEFF, YOU HAVE TO HAVE READERS TO READ IT.
BUT YEAH, SEE, I'M GOING TO FRAME IT NEXT TO MY BAND POSTER.
THANK YOU. THERE IS A SLIDE THAT SAYS QUESTIONS.
SO IF ANYONE HAS QUESTIONS, WE CAN GO TO THAT SLIDE.
NO, SERIOUSLY, ANY MORE QUESTIONS? THIS IS OBVIOUSLY BY ITS OWN NAME, A LONG TERM PROCESS.
AND WE WILL REVISIT THIS MANY TIMES.
AND I KNOW YOU'VE GOT SOME DATES, BUT WE'RE GOING TO DO IT RIGHT.
SO WE'LL TAKE IT VERY SERIOUSLY.
THANK YOU FOR KICKING THAT OFF AND HELPING US OUT THROUGH THIS.
SO WE'RE TO THE DISCUSSION ACTION SECTION.
[10.1 Request for Approval of the Police Department Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) ]
WE'LL START WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT MOU.ALL RIGHT. YOU WANT TO TELL US AUDREY.
I'LL LET YOU SET IT UP, IF YOU DON'T MIND.
AND SO THE CITY OF LAKEWAY ACTUALLY MET LAST NIGHT AND APPROVED THE MOU THAT YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU.
THERE IS SOME BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN TCOLE AND BOTH US AND THE CITY OF LAKEWAY IN THE ACTUAL NAMING OF THE PARTIES.
SO. IF YOU SEE IN THERE EANES ISD IS A PARTY TO THIS, NOT EANES ISD POLICE DEPARTMENT.
THEY WANT THE NAME TO, MATT JUMP IN IF I'M SAYING THIS INCORRECTLY, BUT THEY WANT THE CITY OF LAKEWAY TO BE THE CITY OF LAKEWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT INSTEAD OF CITY OF LAKEWAY.
AND SO I BELIEVE THEIR ATTORNEYS ARE TELLING THEM IT REALLY NEEDS TO BE CITY OF LAKEWAY.
BUT THERE'S KIND OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ALL THREE ENTITIES GOING BACK AND FORTH.
THE ONE IN THE PACKET WAS MORE SPECIFIC.
THIS IS GOING TO ALLOW US TO APPROVE THIS WHILE THEY WORK OUT THIS WORDING THING.
WAITING UNTIL SEPTEMBER FOR US TO VOTE ON THIS YET, JEN.
SO DO YOU ANTICIPATE ANY NEED TO AMEND THIS DEPENDING ON WHAT THE OUTCOME OF THE THREE ENTITIES DISCUSSING? SO THAT'S THE REASON THAT WE'RE PROPOSING THIS LANGUAGE IS SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO AMEND IT.
SO IF YOU DELEGATE THE AUTHORITY TO DR.
FINALIZE THAT, FINALIZE THE NAMING ISSUE, AND THEN EXECUTE THAT AS IS.
AND THEN AUDREY, JUST FROM WHAT YOU'VE EXPLAINED, IS THERE A POSSIBILITY WHERE THE MOU WOULD NEED TO BE BETWEEN CITY OF LAKEWAY AND CITY OF LAKEWAY ISD AND OUR ISD OR DO YOU ANTICIPATE THAT IT WILL BE ONE OR THE OTHER AND US? I ANTICIPATE IT WILL BE BETWEEN EANES ISD AND THE CITY OF LAKEWAY.
[01:05:03]
OF THOSE ENTITIES IN THERE CITY OF LAKEWAY AND LAKEWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT.OKAY. AND THEN MATT FROM THE MEETING IS.
SO, I MEAN, REGARDLESS OF WHAT ENTITY LAKEWAY ENTERS INTO AN MOU WITH US THAT DOESN'T DETERMINE WHAT SERVICES WE WOULD RECEIVE.
I'M HAPPY TO MAKE A MOTION IF YOU'RE READY FOR THAT.
I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT MOU WITH THE CITY OF LAKEWAY AND ALSO DELEGATE AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO FINALIZE NON-SUBSTANTIVE CONTRACT LANGUAGE AND EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT.
I HAVE A MOTION BY ELLEN SECOND BY KIM.
ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION NEEDED? OKAY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. AYE. ANY OPPOSED? OKAY. I WANT TO MAKE SURE I GET THIS ON THE AUDIO.
WE HAD A MOTION BY ELLEN, A SECOND BY KIM.
THE MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO.
THANK YOU ALL. AND ALSO, IF ANYBODY FROM THE CITY OF LAKEWAY HAPPENS TO BE WATCHING, I DO WANT TO THANK THEIR CITY COUNCIL AND THEIR CHIEF FOR BEING SO HELPFUL TO US THROUGH THIS PROCESS. SO, YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.
AND THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU AND YOUR YOUR TEAMS TO KEEPING ALL OF THIS MOVING.
YEAH, I KNOW THE TCOLE APPLICATION IS A BEAR, SO I APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK BEING DONE.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU ALL. THANKS, MATT.
ALL RIGHT. OUR NEXT ITEM IS RESPOND TO HOUSE BILL 3033 CALL TO DESIGNATE TEN BUSINESS CLOSED DAYS.
[10.2 Request to respond to House Bill 3033 call to designate 10 business closed days ]
AUDREY, THIS SOUNDS EXCITING.SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE GENERALLY CLOSED FOR MORE THAN TEN DAYS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.
WE ALSO OPERATE GENERALLY ON A SCHOOL YEAR, BUT THIS BILL IS VERY SPECIFIC TO HAVING THE BOARD DESIGNATE TEN NON-BUSINESS DAYS BY THE CALENDAR YEAR AS IT RELATES TO THE PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT.
IF WE BELIEVE THAT AN EXCEPTION TO PUBLIC DISCLOSURE APPLIES WE HAVE TEN BUSINESS DAYS TO SUBMIT OUR ARGUMENTS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AS TO WHY PUBLIC DISCLOSURE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.
THE STATE DOES SAY THAT OR THE LEGISLATOR DOES SAY THAT STATE THAT NON-BUSINESS DAYS DON'T INCLUDE SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS OR NATIONAL HOLIDAYS UNDER THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT AND STATE HOLIDAYS UNDER THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE AS WELL.
SO WHAT I DID WAS GO THROUGH SO WE HAVE THIS GOES INTO EFFECT SEPTEMBER 1ST, SO THE REMAINDER OF THIS CALENDAR YEAR, OF WHICH WE DON'T HAVE TEN NON-BUSINESS DAYS REMAINING THAT WE'RE CLOSED.
SO I DID NOT INTERPRET THAT TO MEAN EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS FOR STAFF OR ANYTHING TO THAT EFFECT.
SO I HAVE LISTED THE DAYS THAT WE ARE THAT THE DISTRICT IS CLOSED FOR THE NON BUSINESS DAYS AND THE REMAINDER OF THIS CALENDAR YEAR, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN.
AND WENT THROUGH THE BIGGER HURDLE WAS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2024 AND WORKED WITH PATTY TO GO THROUGH IT. SINCE WE BOTH WORK ON THE OPEN RECORDS REQUEST TO THINK THROUGH WHAT MAKES THE MOST SENSE ADMINISTRATIVE WISE.
WINTER BREAK THE SECOND WEEK OF WINTER BREAK WE DON'T HAVE ANY HOLIDAYS THAT ARE BUILT IN.
SO I WENT AHEAD AND PICKED ONE OF THOSE DATES SINCE THE 4TH OF JULY WAS STILL A HOLIDAY.
JUST THINKING THROUGH, WELL, IF WE COME BACK AND IT'S DAY THREE, DO I STILL HAVE TIME TO PUT TOGETHER ARGUMENTS AND OR RESPOND TO A COMMUNITY MEMBER? SO THAT WAS A LOT OF THE REASONING BEHIND THIS.
[01:10:02]
THE STATE DOES REQUIRE BOARD ACTION.AND THE SPECIFIC DATES YOU'RE PROPOSING ARE IN THE PACKET.
AND THAT ARE YEAH, THEY'RE LISTED IN A RESOLUTION.
I'M HAPPY TO READ THEM IF YOU WANT ME TO.
ANY QUESTIONS? I JUST I DID HAVE A QUICK QUESTION.
SO, AUDREY, THIS IS REQUIRED BY TEXAS LAW.
YES. AND SO WE DID HAVE WE ACTUALLY I WENT OFF OF THE STUDENT CALENDAR FOR THE 2024 SCHOOL YEAR.
WE DON'T HAVE A DISTRICT WIDE CALENDAR THAT HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR 24, 25.
SO NOTHING SHOULD COME TO YOU UNTIL NEXT YEAR FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 25.
SO THIS WILL BE PART OF OUR PROCEDURE.
CORRECT. EVERY YEAR. EVERY YEAR.
THANK YOU. OH, SOMETHING ELSE.
ELLEN, DID YOU? I'LL MOVE. YEAH, I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION DESIGNATING TEN BUSINESS DAY DISTRICT CLOSURES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2023 CALENDAR YEAR AND FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE 2024 CALENDAR YEAR AS SPECIFIED IN THE ATTACHED RESOLUTION.
I HAVE A MOTION FROM ELLEN AND A SECOND FROM LAURA.
THOSE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE? AYE. ANY OPPOSED? THE MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO.
[10.3 Request for Approval of Tax Rate Resolution and Adoption of 2023-24 Tax Rate]
I'VE FLIPPED MY IPAD OVER TO THE PACKETS.APPROVAL OF THE TAX RATE RESOLUTION AND ADOPTION OF THE 2023 2024 TAX RATE.
CHRIS SCOTT. SO HERE'S THE FINAL STEP ON TAX RATE ADOPTION.
BACK IN JUNE, WE POSTED IN THE NEWSPAPER A PROPOSED TAX RATE.
AND SO WE ALWAYS GO WITH THAT TO BE SAFE BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE COMPRESSION IS GOING TO BE.
THE COMPRESSION ENDED UP AFTER THE SPECIAL SESSION COMING IN AT THE MCR RATE, WHICH IS THE MAXIMUM COMPRESSED RATE WHICH IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR M&O SIDE, WAS .688. THEN WHEN WE ADD IN OUR GOLDEN PENNIES AND WE ADD IN OUR $0.12 FOR I&S COMES TO A TOTAL TAX RATE OF 0.888, WHICH IS A LITTLE LESS THAN $0.12 LOWER THAN WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR AT 1.0046.
THANK YOU. AND AS MUCH AS WE'D LOVE TO TAKE FULL CREDIT FOR LOWERING THE TAX RATE, THIS IS A STATE MANDATED CHANGE THAT WE ARE FOLLOWING THE LAW HERE AND LOWERING THE TAX RATE FOR COMPRESSION.
AND THEN ELLEN. ARE WE LOWER THAN AUSTIN ISD NOW.
BECAUSE LAST YEAR WE WERE THE SECOND LOWEST BY A PENNY.
BECAUSE OUR TAX BASE GROWTH WAS LOWER THAN THEIRS.
DOES THE STATE KEEP US WHOLE BY LOWERING OUR RECAPTURE PAYMENT BECAUSE OF THEIR COMPRESSION? SO, YES.
HOWEVER, WHAT THAT MEANS FOR US IS THAT WE'RE NOT GETTING MORE MONEY OUT OF IT.
COUNTERINTUITIVELY, FOR US, THAT'S GOING TO MEAN A LOSS OF SOME REVENUE BECAUSE THAT MONEY THAT WE COLLECT IN DECEMBER AND JANUARY, WE INVEST.
WE ARE PROBABLY GOING TO COLLECT ABOUT 20 TO $25 MILLION LESS THIS YEAR THAN WHAT WE COLLECTED LAST YEAR, WHICH WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF INVESTMENT INCOME SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 1.1, 1.2 MILLION.
DO YOU HAVE A MOTION? LAURA. I MOVE THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ADOPT THE PROPERTY.
SORRY. LET ME START THAT OVER.
I MOVE THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
[01:15:05]
[LAUGHTER] SORRY YEAH. ARE YOU ON PAGE? FOR SOME REASON, I'M STUCK ON THIS ONE.HEATHER. I MOVE THAT THE TRUST THAT WE RECOMMEND THE PROPERTY TAX RATE BE REDUCED FROM 1 DOLLAR 004620.8880 THE TOTAL TAX RATE OF 0.8880 INCLUDES 0.768 FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS AND 0.12 FOR INTEREST IN SINKING.
THANK YOU, HEATHER. I HAVE A MOTION BY HEATHER AND A SECOND BY JEN.
MOTION PASSES. MOTION PASSES SEVEN ZERO.
[10.4 Request for Approval of Resolution Authorizing Redemption of Certain of the District's Outstanding Bonds ]
SO AS YOU KNOW, WHEN WE SOLD OUR 2019 BONDS, WE KNEW THAT THERE WAS GOING TO BE A TIME AND WE'RE THERE WHERE WE WOULD HAVE SOME EXCESS COLLECTIONS BEFORE WE STARTED PAYING FOR THE EXPECTED 2023 BONDS. AND WHAT WE DID WAS WE SOLD SOME WHAT ARE KNOWN AS VARIABLE RATE BONDS, WHICH HAD A DATE WHICH THEY WOULD RESET TO A HIGHER INTEREST RATE.AND WHAT THAT ALLOWED US TO DO WAS TO GET A LOWER INTEREST RATE THAN IF WE HAD ACTUALLY SOLD BONDS THAT WOULD HAVE MATURED LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR. AND SO NOW IT'S TIME TO REDEEM THOSE.
AND LAST YEAR YOU VOTED TO REDEEM ABOUT $9 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF THOSE BONDS.
AND WE'RE GOING TO ASK YOU TONIGHT TO AUTHORIZE US TO REDEEM THE REST OF THEM.
IT'S ABOUT $5.8 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF BONDS.
YOU CAN SEE THE DETAILS OF WHICH ONES THOSE ARE IN THE BOARD ACTION SHEET.
AND CAN YOU ADVANCE? I'VE GOT THE CLICKER RIGHT HERE.
SO I'VE HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW THE SERIES WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.
AND SO THAT'S 5.885 MILLION IN PRINCIPLE, THAT WILL BE REDEEMING.
AND BECAUSE WE'LL BE PAYING FOR THOSE EARLY, WE WILL NO LONGER BE PAYING INTEREST ON THEM.
AND THAT WILL SAVE THE DISTRICT ABOUT $1.75 MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE LIFE OF THOSE BONDS.
YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT I'VE SHOWN YOU WHAT WE'VE DONE OVER THE LAST TEN YEARS, BOTH IN REFUNDING BONDS, WHICH IS I GUESS, THE EQUIVALENT OF REFUNDING YOUR MORTGAGE GOING OUT.
BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT WE'VE DONE QUITE A BIT OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.
SO OVER THE LAST TEN YEARS, WE'VE SAVED THE DISTRICT SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF.
I CAN'T SEE IT, BUT IT'S MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
THANK YOU. [LAUGHTER] $24 MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS.
AND JUST REAL QUICK, IS THAT WE'RE SETTLING THIS, DEFEASANCE THIS WITH I&S FUNDS.
ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD, HEATHER? NO, HEATHER DOESN'T HAVE A QUESTION.
ALL RIGHT. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. AYE. THAT MOTION CARRIES SEVEN ZERO.
THANK YOU. IRONICALLY, THIS YEAR'S KINDERGARTEN CLASS IS THE CLASS OF 2036, RIGHT? AND NEXT IS THE CONSENT AGENDA.
[11. ACTION - CONSENT AGENDA]
DO I HAVE.OH, YEAH. DO I HAVE A MOTION? I'LL TAKE A MOTION. ELLEN.
I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS POSTED.
I HAVE A MOTION BY ELLEN AND A SECOND BY KIM.
ANY DISCUSSION? DOES ANYBODY NEED TO PULL AN ITEM OR ANYTHING? I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL THE FOLKS ON THE SHAC.
IT'S A LOT OF WORK, BUT IT'S VERY, VERY IMPORTANT COMMITTEE.
AND I APPRECIATE THEIR TIME AND THEIR EFFORTS AND THEIR BRAINPOWER.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE. MOTION CARRIES.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF UPCOMING MEETINGS.
[12. UPCOMING MEETINGS]
WE WILL HAVE A STUDY SESSION MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 5TH, FOLLOWED BY A REGULAR BOARD MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 19TH.[01:20:05]
AND WITH THAT, THE TIME IS 8:19 AND WE ARE ADJOURNED.
