WE ARE MEETING IN A SPECIAL LOCATION RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THE BUILDING THAT WE'RE MOVING INTO IS THEY'RE PUTTING THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON.

SO WE HOPE TO GET IN IN JUNE INTO OUR NEW ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING.

UNTIL THEN, WE WILL BE MEETING AT CEDAR CREEK.

THE PURPOSE OF TONIGHT'S MEETING IS FOR THE BOARD TO DELIBERATE AND VOTE ON MATTERS ON ITS AGENDA.

AS ALWAYS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO ENSURING A RESPECTFUL AND CONSTRUCTIVE ENVIRONMENT, AND WE ASK THE SAME COURTESY IN RETURN.

KUPPUSAMY. OKAY. WELL I WANT TO SAY DEVIN IS A JUNIOR AT WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL IN EANES ISD CREATED A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THE NEW TECH PROJECTS, IN ORDER TO ADDRESS TWO PROBLEMS HE SAW IN HIS COMMUNITY.

AND THESE ARE THINGS I CARE ABOUT A GREAT DEAL.

E-WASTE AND A LACK OF TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST.

HIS GROUP HAS SUCCESSFULLY PARTNERED WITH EIGHT ORGANIZATIONS AND HAS DONATED GET THIS $56,000 IN TECHNOLOGY SUPPLIES IN JUST THEIR FIRST YEAR OF WORK. THEY HAVE AN ADDITIONAL GOAL OF BEING A REPOSITORY FOR E-WASTE THAT THEY CAN SEND FOR RECYCLING INSTEAD OF TO LANDFILLS. AND THEY'VE COLLECTED MULTIPLE CAR LOADS OF DONATED ELECTRONICS.

I WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME DOWN TO SAN MARCOS TO OUR HOUSE? WE'VE GOT A LOT OF THAT. AT LEAST THAT MUCH, I THINK.

NOW I WANT TO PRESENT THIS MEDAL, AND I'M GOING TO PUT IT AROUND YOUR HEAD.

EARLIER TODAY, WE WERE AT BARTON CREEK ELEMENTARY AND HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND TIME WITH JENNIFER DUSEK, THE PRINCIPAL AT BARTON CREEK, AND DIANE AND KELLY WERE BOTH THERE.

YOU'LL ALSO SEE IN THIS PHOTOGRAPH THE GENTLEMAN WHO IS STANDING NEXT TO MRS. DUSEK IS JEREMY DONALDSON. JEREMY IS A MEMBER OF OUR ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS ACADEMY, AND HE WAS SHADOWING ME FOR THE DAY.

SO IT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR HIM TO SEE THE TYPE OF INTERACTION THAT WE ENJOY WITH OUR PRINCIPALS, AND WE LEARN ABOUT THEIR CAMPUSES AND ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO THOSE VISITS.

ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT LATER IN THE MEETING, YOU'LL SEE THIS PHOTOGRAPH TO THE RIGHT.

WE ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE THE SITE OF WHERE THE NEW CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER PORTABLES WILL BE LOCATED.

YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT THAT FROM DOCTOR GARCIA IN JUST A FEW MINUTES.

BUT WE ENJOYED BEGINNING OUR DAY AT BARTON CREEK ELEMENTARY.

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NUMBER. MOLLY MAE SHARED THIS WITH ME THIS MORNING.

92% OF OUR CURRENT FAMILIES HAVE COMPLETED STUDENT INFORMATION VERIFICATION FOR NEXT YEAR, SO THIS IS REALLY CRITICAL. WE'RE ENCOURAGING FAMILIES TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY COMPLETE THEIR INFORMATION VERIFICATION AND THEIR ENROLLMENT FOR NEXT YEAR, BECAUSE THE SOONER THEY DO THAT, THE SOONER WE'LL KNOW HOW WE CAN STAFF OUR CAMPUSES AND BE PREPARED TO ACCOMMODATE ALL OF THE STUDENTS WHO PLAN TO BE HERE FOR NEXT YEAR.

SO 92%, THAT'S A VERY IMPRESSIVE NUMBER. A LOT OF HARD WORK HAS GONE INTO THAT, MAKING SURE THAT ALL OF THE CURRENT FAMILIES HAVE COMPLETED THAT PROCESS.

AND SO WE ONLY HAVE 8% MORE TO GO, AND PERHAPS THE NUMBER IS EVEN HIGHER BY THIS TIME THIS AFTERNOON.

IT TAKES A LOT OF WORK TO MOVE A BOARD MEETING LIKE THIS.

SETTING UP THE FURNITURE, MAKING SURE THAT THE TECHNOLOGY IS FUNCTIONAL.

SO I WANT TO THANK ANTHONY DAVIS AND HIS STAFF AS WELL, BECAUSE THEY'VE MOVED ALL OF THE FURNITURE THAT WE'LL BE USING FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS AS WE PREPARE FOR YOUR PERMANENT HOME, WHICH WE'RE HOPEFUL WE'LL BE READY FOR THE JUNE 10TH BOARD MEETING.

WE'LL START WITH MARIA ROCKSTAD WITH THE MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT.

HELLO, MARIA. WELCOME. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED NOW, MARIA? I'M IN THE ROCK HOUSE. OKAY. YEAH, THAT MAKES SENSE.

ROCKSTAD ROCK HOUSE. YEAH, THAT'S HOW WE DECIDED WHERE WE'RE GOING.

YEAH, IT'S DIFFERENT, BUT IT'S GOOD. OKAY, SO A COUPLE ITEMS TO TOUCH ON FOR THE MONTHLY REPORT FOR FEBRUARY.

AS FAR AS OUR TAXES ARE CONCERNED, WE'RE A LITTLE BIT BEHIND WHERE WE WERE AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR, BUT IT'S STILL VERY MUCH IN LINE WHERE WE EXPECT TO BE IN AS OF FEBRUARY.

WHEN WE LOOK AT THE SAME SAME PERCENTAGE TWO YEARS AGO, IT'S ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT BETTER.

SO THE NUMBERS ARE PRETTY MUCH EXACTLY WHERE WE EXPECT THEM TO BE.

FEBRUARY IS PRETTY MUCH THE LAST MONTH WHERE WE HAVE SIGNIFICANT TAX COLLECTIONS AFTER THIS.

WE'LL OBVIOUSLY STILL BE COLLECTING TAXES, BUT THEY'LL DROP DOWN QUITE A BIT.

AND THEN AS FAR AS BUDGET AMENDMENTS, THERE IS NO THERE IS NOT ANY BUDGET AMENDMENTS FOR THE DEBT SERVICE FUND AND THE CHILD NUTRITION FUND.

AND FOR THE GENERAL FUND, WE HAVE WHAT WE TYPICALLY RECEIVE FROM DEPARTMENTS AND CAMPUSES WITH NET EFFECT ON THE FUND BALANCE BEING ZERO.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? I WANT TO ASK REAL QUICK.

YOU SAY WE'RE BEHIND ON TAX COLLECTION. DO WE DO ANYTHING TO INFLUENCE THAT? THAT'S THE COUNTY, RIGHT? COLLECTING THE TAXES.

RIGHT. SO WE HAVE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY TO COLLECT OUR TAXES FOR US.

I MEAN, IT'S THE SAME AS THE PROPERTY TAXES THAT WE ALL PAY.

THERE'S A DUE DATE ON THEM, AND SOME PEOPLE PAY THEM ON TIME AND SOME PEOPLE DON'T. YEAH.

SO BUT IN TERMS OF COURSE, THERE ARE INSTANCES WHERE A LOT OF THE INSTANCES WHERE WE SEE THAT THAT COLLECTIONS HAVEN'T BEEN MADE, IT'S BECAUSE PEOPLE MIGHT BE DISPUTING THEIR TAXES.

AND SO THOSE ARE CONVERSATIONS THAT THE THAT THE TAX OFFICE IS HAVING WITH THOSE PROPERTY OWNERS.

SO THE, THE DISTRICT ISN'T FAILING TO COLLECT TAXES AT THIS POINT.

IT'S THE COUNTY IS COLLECTING THEM. AND. RIGHT, WE'RE WAITING ON THE COUNTY TO FINISH.

RIGHT. WE JUST GIVE YOU WE'RE JUST GIVING YOU A LOOK AT WHERE WE COMPARE TO AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR.

WE HAVE DOCTOR MIGUEL GARCIA, LORI LEE AND BRENDA SMOLAND TO UPDATE US POWERHOUSE TEAM HERE.

THANKS FOR COMING. LOOK FORWARD TO THE UPDATE.

WELL, GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. JUST A COUPLE OF UPDATES HERE REGARDING THE LEARNING STUDIOS AT BARTON CREEK ELEMENTARY.

SO THIS PAST MONTH WE HAVE RECEIVED OUR SITE PLAN EXEMPTION, WHICH WILL GIVE US THE ABILITY TO EXPEDITE THE PROJECT.

ALSO, OUR ELECTRICAL SERVICE PLANNING APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.

THIS WILL THIS WILL HELP US OBTAIN OUR ELECTRICAL PERMITS AND WILL GIVE US MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT IS WHAT KIND OF WATTAGE WE WOULD NEED FOR THE PORTAL, THE LEARNING STUDIOS. ALL UTILITIES HAVE BEEN LOCATED ON SITE.

THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION FOR THE LEARNING STUDIOS FOR THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED, AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE MAP. ON TOP OF THAT MAP, THE NORTH SIDE OF THE CAMPUS.

THE CLASSROOM LEARNING STUDIOS REMAIN AT THE END OF THE 103 HUNDRED HALLWAY.

SO THAT HAS NOT CHANGED. AND AT THIS POINT, THE TEAM IS PREPARING A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL, FOR CONTRACTORS SO WE CAN START RECEIVING BIDS AND START PLACING THE PORTABLES ON SITE.

GOOD EVENING. THANK YOU. I FEEL LIKE STAFFING IS REALLY A BRANDIS AND LAURIE LEE CONVERSATION TONIGHT BECAUSE WE SPENT THE WEEK BEFORE SPRING BREAK HAVING SOME INDIVIDUAL CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR BARTON CREEK AND VALLEY VIEW TEACHERS AND STAFF.

SO WE HAD GREAT CONVERSATIONS. WE FELT LIKE THEY WENT REALLY WELL.

WE DID TALK ABOUT THEIR PLACEMENT. AND, YOU KNOW, WE DID THE SURVEY BEFORE WE LEFT DURING THE HOLIDAYS IN THE WINTER.

AND THAT WAS WHEN WE HAD ASKED SOME PEOPLE OF THEIR INTENTIONS IF THEY WANTED TO GO TO ANOTHER CAMPUS.

WE HAVE PLACED SOME OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS WITH A FEW RESIGNATIONS THAT WE'VE RECEIVED, SO WE FEEL LIKE WE'RE DOING REALLY WELL.

WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE LOOKING AT OUR STAFFING NEEDS BECAUSE, AS YOU KNOW STUDENT ENROLLMENT, THE SIV PROCESS HAS JUST WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK.

SO WE ARE REALLY STILL LOOKING AND ASSESSING GRADE LEVELS AND ALL OF THOSE NUMBERS THAT ARE COMING IN SO THAT WE KNOW WHERE WE WILL BE STANDING FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. SO WITH THAT, WE STILL HAVE SOME ONGOING CONVERSATIONS TO HAVE, JUST BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SECTIONS THAT WE WILL NEED.

BUT YES, WE THOUGHT THINGS WENT REALLY WELL. OKAY.

ALL RIGHT. OKAY. SO MY PART IS BASICALLY ABOUT THE ACTION PLAN THAT WE HAVE TOWARDS THE CULTURE OF THE NEW BARTON CREEK THAT WE'LL HAVE. AND SO AT THE BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY, LATE JANUARY, I WAS ABLE TO START REALLY THINKING MORE ABOUT WHAT GOALS WE HAVE FOR THIS TIME IN THE INTERIM OF PLANNING AND MOVING FORWARD.

SO MY THREE GOALS WERE TO BUILD A UNIFIED COMMUNITY WITH OUR STAFF, OUR STUDENTS AND OUR PARENTS.

BLENDING THE TRADITIONS AND VALUES OF BOTH CAMPUSES TO BECOME ONE AND THEN ENSURING THE ACADEMIC TRANSITION IS SEAMLESS.

SO GIVEN THOSE THREE SPECIFIC GOALS, I WAS ABLE TO START MEETING WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE IN THE DISTRICT.

AND ONE OF MY MAIN MEETINGS COMES FROM A MEETING THAT I HAVE EACH.

WELL, IT'S BEEN REALLY EVERY WEEK WITH THE DIRECTOR OF HUMANITIES, HEATHER MEEK.

OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT, YOU KNOW, WAS ON OBVIOUSLY ON BOARD WITH THAT VERY EARLY ON AND SAID, YOU KNOW, AS A VISUAL REMINDER, WHO'S IN OUR CAMPUSES, OUR KIDS ARE COMING AND GOING.
